SWOEA continues to make a commitment to provide better communication and service to all members.

  • SWOEA will continue to provide that vital link between your local and the Ohio Association. Through SWOEA, you elect representatives to the OEA Representative Assembly, the OEA Executive Committee, and OEA Committees and Commissions .... these are your representatives. The persons you elect to the OEA Executive Committee also serve as voting members of the SWOEA Executive Committee.

  • SWOEA is an attempt to expedite your needs by putting you in touch with the proper people to help solve your problems. The SWOEA phone number is listed on all correspondence. A call to our office will get you help or answer your questions.

  • SWOEA is entitled to, and has, five members on the OEA Executive Committee.

  • SWOEA is ready to assist in crisis situations; however, we do NOT attempt to be in conflict with OEA field staff or their operations. We attempt to coordinate efforts and work in whatever role our members desire.

  • SWOEA is the President and officers, available to speak or attend functions at the local level if needed.

  • SWOEA is represented at both the OEA and NEA conventions.

  • SWOEA is a channel for items to be acted upon by the OEA Representative Assembly, through the Ohio Education Association via the SWOEA Legislative and Resolutions Committees by our District Representative Assembly.

SWOEA LOCAL CRISIS FUND
A local crisis fund will be maintained to provide assistance to locals during work stoppages initiated by a break down in negotiations between educational employees and their respective boards.

  1. Allocation of funds will be controlled by the action of the Executive Committee with the exception that: immediately following the onset of a work stoppage, the president may allocate monies from the fund, without prior action of the Executive Committee, up to $50.

  2. Only OEA-NEA affiliates will benefit from the crisis fund.

  3. SWOEA affiliates will be given top priority.

  4. Additional funding will be considered, for locals with long term work stoppage, such as 7 days - $50; 14 days - $50 additional; 21 days - $50 additional, etc. until $200 has been allotted. If the work stoppage goes beyond 30 days, the Executive Committee will consider extending allocations or take further action.

  5. Executive Committee will consider allocating funds for long-term work stoppages (30 days or longer) throughout the state or nation on a continuing basis.

Contact the SWOEA Office for additional information.

  2. Allocation of funds will be controlled by the action of the Executive Committee.
