One of the most dynamic instructional technologies is the interactive whiteboard. Attendees will witness the functionality of an interactive whiteboard and learn how it can be utilized to enhance instruction and foster student interaction. Teachers will also participate in a demonstration of a Personal Response System (PRS). As a result, teachers will learn how this technology enhances engagement and provides instant feedback on individual student comprehension. Another technology that will be on display is the INTERWRITEMOBI. This electronic pad lets teachers teach and students contribute from anywhere in the classroom. Finally, attendees will participate in a demonstration of the ExamView assessment building software. This software functions as an independent test generator and also works in conjunction with the interactive whiteboard and Personal Response System.
The workshop will be held on January 19 at the Maple Dale Elementary School,6100 Hagewa Drive (off Kenwood Road between Pfeiffer and Cooper section of Kenwood in Blue Ash) in the Art Room (Room 130). |

The evening will include a visit to the Rockwern Chapel and Hillel Judaica, viewing exhibits and listening to testimonies. Services offered by the Center for Holocaust and Humanity Education include a speakers bureau, Out of the Attic circulating displays, and a variety of community events. The workshop will be held at the Center, which is located at 8401 Montgomery Road, Cincinnati, Ohio 45236.
A certificate of participation will be given to those who attend.

The workshop presenter is Shahrazad Kablan, from Mason School District, Educational Consultant, ESL and Cross-Cultural Specialist. Based on her life experiences as an “English Language Learner”, Shahrazad truly understands the complexities and multiple variables that surround the English language learner. Shahrazad’s field of expertise encompasses the methodology of teaching content curriculum to second language speakers.
COURSE DESCRIPTION
With today’s diverse and complex classrooms, many teachers are challenged by the need to address the needs of all students. Today’s challenges have placed an increased demand on teachers and administrators to become more aware of the languages, culture, and life experiences displayed in their classrooms. This workshop provides participants with the opportunity to explore linguistic & cultural diversity. It also provides a wide range of resources & strategies that promote academic achievement for culturally & linguistically diverse students. Participants will also be given the opportunity to work with Wiki Space, Webquest, Internet Translation and Digital media in the classroom.
REGISTRATION INFORMATION
There are a maximum of 35 participants and the registration deadline is Tuesday, June 8. Total cost for class and credit is $272 for SWOEA members. Contact the SWOEA Office (www.swoea.or or 771-3319) for registration information
FEES
$100 for SWOEA members; $125 for non-SWOEA members. Make registration checks payable to SWOEA. Cancellations must be made by June 2; no refunds will be given after that date. Your registration check will be deposited on June 2.
COLLEGE CREDIT
$172 for 1 semester hour at Ashland University. Pay tuition on June 14. Outside coursework needed for credit.
